“I’m sorry for last year, Nick.” Maya said one day out of no where. I was lying on the couch, reading the newspaper when she said it. I put it down, looking over at her.
“What?”
“About your birthday last year. And how much of a disaster it was.” She said, sighing. Then she smiled. “So this year I didn’t do anything for you!”
I smiled. “Thank you, Maya.”
“But I did make you this.” She handed me a charm bracelet that ties onto the wrist. It had little magatama charms on it along with some beads. “It’s a wish bracelet. You put it on, wish for something, and when it falls off, your wish comes true!”
“Thanks, Maya.” I wasn’t entirely sure what to wish for. What did I really need? Other than maybe an infinite amount of money but that seemed kind of a stupid thing to waste a whole bracelet on. It took me a while before I finally knew exactly what I wanted most. I grinned like mad, or at least I must have since Maya grinned with me, as I tied on the bracelet.
“There.”
“Okay! Tell me when it falls off!” Maya said, picking up her things.
“Where are you going?”
“Back to Kurain for more training.” She said with a sigh. “Sorry, Nick.”
“Nah, its fine. I’ll walk with you to the train stop.”
“It’s been weeks, when is this thing going to fall off?” I asked Maya irritably. All the charms had fallen off but the knot held strong.
“I don’t know.”
I sighed. “I hope it’s soon. It’s beginning to become a nuisance.”
Maya grinned. “Don’t worry, it’ll come off soon. I promise.”
One average day after court, a trial I had won, Edgeworth came over to me as I was chatting with Maya and my client. “Wright, can I speak to you for a second.” He asked, pulling me aside.
I raised an eyebrow. “Hmm? Something the matter?”
“Actually, I was just curious about that wish bracelet of yours.” He admitted.
“This?” I held up my wrist, fiddling with the bracelet as I always did. “What about it?”
“What was your wish?”
“Ah…” My face turned red. “I, er, it was, ahh, nothing…”
Edgeworth smiled lightly at my flustered expression. “Not something silly, I hope.”
“Ack! No, of course it’s not it’s just…” I rubbed the back of my neck. “Wait, why do you care?”
“Just curious.” He replied casually, then asked, “Would you like to accompany me for a late lunch?”
I checked my watch. It was fairly early. Only about three. “Sure.” I decided before I could think about it. Something, I’d regret, I figured as I walked over to Maya.
“Looks like I’m going to lunch with Edgeworth see you at the office tomorrow.” I told her.
Maya grinned wildly. “Okay, Nick! Have fun!”
It wasn’t as bad as I thought. Edgeworth and I were on rather good terms now, so it was almost as if we weren’t on opposite sides of the court anymore.
The place Edgeworth took me too was nice and comfortable. I really liked it. We took seats fairly close to the window but not too close. Right in the middle, actually. Every time I fiddled with my bracelet he would look at it with curiosity. Soon, I hid my hands under the table, earning a funny look from Edgeworth. “How long have you been wearing that, anyway?”
“A few months now…” I admitted sheepishly. “I hope it comes off soon.”
“Can’t wait for your wish to come true, eh?”
“No! I mean, yes, but it’s just…” I sighed. No use getting all flustered for no reason. “Kind of annoying.”
We chatted for a while, until I finally moved my hands back onto the table. Big mistake. My wrist caught on a screw head and the bracelet ripped off, fluttering to the ground. Both Edgeworth and I stared at it with identical expressions of blankness. “ACK!” I shouted, covering my mouth.
Edgeworth looked at me. “Wright… what did you wish for?” His voice held some sort of amusement.
“Ah, um, err, it’s nothing!”
“Might as well tell me, since that bracelet came off after all.”
I felt my face fill with blood. Had Maya been around she would have laughed and called me tomato. “Uuuuuummmmmm…”
Before I ever got to lie about my wish Edgeworth leaned over the table, cupping my face with his hands, and gently pressing his lips to mine. I was so shocked, for two reasons, that I almost didn’t react as his tongue felt over my lips. Once I could move I relaxed into the kiss, parting my lips and letting him inside. Just then he broke the kiss, smiling.
“Was that your wish, perhaps?”
I was still in shock, but as I wiped my mouth I grinned. “Maybe. Maybe it was something else.”
Edgeworth’s eyes widened slightly, but I could feel the blood pulsing in both our veins. He just smiled in response.
We didn’t stay for the food.

Paging Doctor Gavin
Apollo draped himself on the couch at the Wright Anything Agency, letting his arm droop over the side and slipping his other hand behind his head. He was tired--unusually so. His joints ached, his throat burned (which of course meant no "Chords of Steel" this evening), his nose went between stopped up and runny, he had a cough, and he felt like he was burning up.
"...Oh great. I hate this already..." He mumbled, just as the phone rang.
Apollo dragged himself over to the phone and answered it. "Wright Anything Agency. Apollo Justice, attorney-at-law, speaking."
"Oh ho ho...Guess I called at the right time, Herr Fore

Phoenix was not sure on how to react on the news. He stared. At nowhere. His mind was blank and he was unable to think.
For the whole day after he received the news, he was not himself. He was unable to process any information, leaving him as a broken machine; it looked like it worked, but it did not.
The worried Maya told Phoenix to go home, seeing that staying in his office was not exactly good for

Voice in the Darkness
Edgeworth let out a heavy sigh, as he plopped down into his couch. For once, he was able to relax and not worry about any cases at the moment. When he was finally able to go home for the first time in days, the first thing he didwas change into something much more comfortable. Instead of donning his usual magenta (yes, magenta) suit and cravat, he was wearing a plain white long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of jeans.
It feels odd not to be doing anything... he muttered, as he swung he legs up onto the couch and laid down, folding his arms behind him. He frowned, staring down at his blue-socked feet. Now that he was home, he cou
