Literature Text

It had started out a normal day, but when don’t days start normal? Edgeworth was in his office, drinking coffee when there was a knock at the door. “Come in.” He said simply, figuring it was something about a case.
It wasn’t.
“Good afternoon, Edgeworth.” Wright greeted, smiling openly.
He stopped the cup of coffee just centimeters from his lips as he saw the familiar man. He set the coffee on the table along with the file had been reading. “Hello… Wright.” He said confusion obvious in his voice.
Wright just smiled a little wider. “I figured you needed a break from all of the non-stop cases you’ve had lately.”
Edgeworth raised an eyebrow. “And?”
“So, I decided to come save you from it!” Phoenix grinned.
Edgeworth stared. “You sound like Larry.” He replied with disgust. “Besides, I like to work, unlike you.”
“Hey!” Phoenix said, taken back. “I do to like to work, and as for sounding like Larry I take that as an insult.”
Edgeworth sighed. “Alright, what did you have in mind?”
Phoenix opened his mouth for a rebuttal then closed it when Edgeworth didn’t say anything that caused need of one. “Uh, actually, I just thought you’d like to come to lunch with me.”
“Alright.”
“And I’ll drag you if- what?” He asked, cutting himself off. He expected Edgeworth to put up at some resistance.
Edgeworth smiled faintly. “I was beginning to get hungry myself.”
“Ah. Okay…” Phoenix said, still confused.
Edgeworth smiled a bit wider. It was fun to mess with Phoenix.

“A ramen shop?”
“Eldoon’s Noodles!” Phoenix announced.
Edgeworth was almost weary now. “Are you sure?”
“Of course! I eat here everyday.”
That could very well be what’s wrong with you. Edgeworth thought but of course said nothing about it. “Alright, you win.”
A silent “Yay” Hung in the air as Phoenix sauntered over to order them ramen. They sat on a bench and ate, speaking only seldom when one of them could think of something to say. The silences were never uncomfortable, in fact sometimes Edgeworth wondered if they were more comfortable than when they spoke.
“Do you want to come over to my place, when we’re done?” Phoenix suddenly asked, seemingly from no where.
“Wright, I should really be getting back to my work…”
“I know, but work is all you ever do. Don’t you ever want to take a break?” he asked with genuine concern.
Edgeworth knew he should be mad, ‘what did it matter to Wright if he worked all the time?’, but he wasn’t. In fact he felt kind of touched that he actually cared. “I guess… I don’t really like taking breaks. Work is my personal life, too.”
Phoenix nodded, seeming to know what he meant. “Yeah… Everyone I know is from cases I’ve worked on. It all kind of blends together.”
Edgeworth was surprised that Phoenix actually knew what he meant. He usually seemed so happy and carefree. But right now he was completely serious. He kind of liked this side of him. “I guess… I can work on the cases later…”
Phoenix brightened. “Alright!”

“And this is my house.” Phoenix announced, motioning to the tiny apartment. “Not much, eh?”
Edgeworth raised his eyebrow. “How many times have you actually been paid for defending someone?”
Phoenix sighed, running his fingers through his hair, loosening it up a bit. “Not many.”
For a second, Miles almost felt kind of guilty. He was rich, being a prosecutor paid, but almost all the times he got paid it was for sending an innocent person to jail. Phoenix almost never got paid for saving an innocent person for going to jail. Scratch that. He felt extremely guilty.
Phoenix jumped on his couch, loosening his tie and unbuttoning his dress shirt. “Ugh. I hate suits.”
Edgeworth wore a surprised expression on his face, as if Phoenix were stripping in front of him. Which, in a sense, he was.
Phoenix noticed only after he had shrugged off his shirt, thrown his tie on the coffee table, and unbuttoned his dress shirt a bit as well. “What?”
“Please tell me you plan to stop there.”
Phoenix grinned suddenly. “I can take off more if you want.”
“Please don’t!”
Phoenix chuckled at the horrified expression on Edgeworth’s face. “I was joking. Geez, Edgey lighten up.”
Edgeworth crossed his arms. “Not funny, Wright.”
Phoenix sprawled out on his couch, crossing his legs and throwing his arms across the sides of he couch. “I thought it was.”
“You think anything is funny.”
“Ah, touché.”
“I’m shocked you even know what that means.”
“I don’t, I just like saying it.”
Edgeworth glared at him and he snickered again. “Seriously, Edgeworth! You’re spun way too tightly.”
“I am not!” Edgeworth argued back.
Phoenix raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? You haven’t even taken off your shoes yet.”
Edgeworth glanced at his feet before realizing it was true. He sat down on the couch next to Phoenix and took them off. “Happy now?”
“Not until you at least take off your cravat.”
Edgeworth did as he said, throwing it next to Phoenix’s tie. “There.”
“What about your jacket?”
Edgeworth unbuttoned it and laid it on the table.
“And your vest? And how can you breathe with your dress shirt buttoned that tight?”
Edgeworth stripped off his vest and loosened his dress shirt, crossing his arms. “I refuse to take anything else off.”
Phoenix grinned suddenly and leaned over Edgeworth. “That’s fine with me.”
Edgeworth felt his face get hot. “What are you, doing, Wright?”
Phoenix grinned wider, “You’ll see.” He leaned in closer, as close as he could get without being on top of him, then gently placed his lips on top of Edgeworth’s.
For a long second, neither moved. Edgeworth had never been kissed, much less by a MAN, in the way Phoenix was. His lips moved passionately in circles, urging him to go along with it. His hands rested on Edgeworth’s, only slightly forcibly, to keep his hands at his sides. Once he realized Edgeworth wouldn’t move he broke the kiss, sighing lightly and taking a breath.
“What the hell…” Edgeworth whispered.
Phoenix was still smiling, but in a slightly hurt way. “Sorry, couldn’t resist the urge.”
Edgeworth wanted to shout, scream, something. He had no idea how to react. Phoenix, his childhood friend, and as of late his rival, not to mention another man, had just kissed him. And not just a peck on the lips, it was turning into a French kiss.
But in just that small amount of time he realized he hadn’t hated it. In fact it almost felt… right.
Very, very Wright, indeed.
Phoenix moved to get up, freeing Edgeworth’s hands. Edgeworth smiled extremely lightly and wrapped his hands around Phoenix’s neck, bringing him back down so that he could press his lips against his.
Phoenix didn’t resist, almost as if he knew Edgeworth would come to his senses about it. This time, Phoenix didn’t hold back. His tongue searched for the only way into Edgeworth’s mouth and found it, easing his lips apart so he could search inside. His tongue intertwined with Edgeworth’s.
He pressed himself as close as he could to the other man without crushing him. Edgeworth pressed back, running his fingers through his hair.
Finally, Phoenix broke the kiss, gasping for air. Edgeworth, through gasps, said, “I suppose that paperwork will have to wait until tomorrow.”
Phoenix just grinned in response.
Almost mature. Almost. BUT not quite.
Anyway, my first real Phoenix X Edgeworth story and it's dedicated to :iconmina9112: For guessing wtc the person in [link] is. xD And I didn't even tell her, seriously. She just guessed.

No clothes were harmed in the making of this fanfiction.

PS. Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Series it the greatest thing EVER! Trust me xD
