Chains

Everything comes back
To these chains binding me
My arms and my legs
All four bound with metal
Silently I scream
For deliverance

They’re there for a reason
But I can’t help but yearn
My soul cries
Unseen tears

These chains on my limbs
Are not the worst
The ones on my heart
Hinder me most

Without feelings
Without hope
What chance do I have?
In this place I am lost in

The darkness is all I see
It is no longer the comfort
It used to be
Now it is my curse
And I feel I must have paid for my sin
A thousand times over

Still I hope
Still I wish
For the freedom
That I cannot taste
For I can no longer imagine
What life is like
